Finding a therapist is a really personal decision. In this blog, I speak about my training, background and life experiences so you can get a feel for who I am. Although starting my professional training in 2014, my journey towards this work started much earlier on. Coming from a large family with lots of dynamics at play, alongside my innate sensitivity I became aware from an early age that there’s more to people then what is presented. Like most “healers”, I came to this work from my own experience of suffering, pain and trauma and continue the journey of healing. I know the depths of darkness in my own mind and body. I know what it is like to live a life that doesn’t feel yours, to live by values and beliefs that deep in your soul don’t ring true, but without any awareness of how this can change. I know the blocks that can get in the way of healing, the sheer terror of “change” even if you theoretically know its “good for you” and the absolute magic that happens when you do the work, allow ourself the safety to trust and heal, and feel a freedom within that perhaps you’ve never even felt.

I am a human, I celebrate the magic the world has to offer; music, art, movement, food, people, nature. I practice yoga. I love to explore the world, but have serious black cat energy and need my own space away from the world at times too. I feel deeply and am a sensitive soul, a term I used to find challenging but learnt to recognise its absolute gift and magic. I have a wild side, knowing the importance of freedom and play in a world that is often to structured and limiting. I am patient; “nothing good is worth rushing”. I am a recovering people pleaser, recovering “addict” and I am an introvert, sometimes doing a good job at presenting as an extrovert. I am a mum, partner, daughter, sister and friend. I am flawed. I am fiery. I have learnt (continuing to learn) to embrace these parts which I now recognise add to the magic. I adore what I do. I revel in the absolute JOY of becoming more and more free from the pain and into a world that can be so fulfilling and captivating.

Professionally speaking, I trained as a psychotherapist at Regent’s School of Psychology and Psychotherapy, London. This training gave me a grounding in integrative psychotherapy, which means examining different theoretical models and then how you integrate that into yourself and your own practice. I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 2016 with the following qualifications:

2019 – Supervision certificate, Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy.

2015-2019 Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Regent’s University London

2014 – Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I continue to undertake courses relevant to my work, with a special interest in trauma, somatic experiencing, embodiment and IFS. I am passionate about keeping up to date with ongoing research in this field and undertake experiential workshops as often as possible.
